Compartmentalizing a home for a fire is a passive fire protection technique that involves dividing a building into fire-resistant compartments to limit the spread of fire, smoke, and heat.
By slowing down the progress of the fire, compartmentalization provides more time for occupants to evacuate and reduces the amount of damage caused by the fire.
How Do You Do It?
You can use numerous different materials with high fire ratings to do this, but we use FireFlex Fire Resistant House Wrap, and one hour fire rated doors. We have used the wrap in this demonstration in different sections of the home, to keep any fire localized to one section of a home to give the homeowners more time to get out safely.
We are pleased to introduce our newest product, FIREFLEX FR House Wrap to the US Market. This innovative product has a NFPA Class A Rating as well as a Euro Class A2 S1 D0 Classification that has a fire performance that is non-combustible and emits little or no smoke and produces no flaming droplets or particles within the first 10 minutes of fire exposure. FireFlex FR is a fire-resistant house and commercial building wrap that has exceptional inhibition of fire growth, OSB off-gassing, heat distribution, and smoke production. Unlike competitors, our wrap is a safe fire-retardant protector for the interior as well as the exterior walls that is specifically designed to slow the spread of fires from room to room while restricting dangerous heat and temperatures in other areas.
